Episode #43: Everything You Need to Know About Stroke with guest Rafael A. Ortiz, MD

On this episode, I am joined by Rafael A. Ortiz, MD, Chief of Neuro-Endovascular Surgery and Interventional Neuro-Radiology at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City, to discuss a topic to which no one is immune: stroke. The rate of stroke among young people in the United States between the ages of 18 and 44 has been rising steadily since 1995. Stroke is the fifth leading cause of death in the United States, and according to the World Health Organization, it is the second leading cause of death worldwide — and 80% of strokes are preventable. A stroke can happen to any person of any race or any gender, at any time — it depends on your risk factors. We must educate ourselves to stop this downward spiral. Tune in for information that could possibly save your life.
